Conspiracy Theory

Conspiracy theories are not new and many have a common theme; most implicate the Jews.

The destruction of the World Trade Centre, by two airliners on 11 September 2001, piloted by Muslim terrorists, has been questioned and claims made that the buildings were actually brought down by explosives planted by Jewish agents.

Another conspiracy theory throws doubt on whether the Americans ever landed on the moon. It is claimed the entire event, witnessed live on television on 20 July 1969, was in fact a TV studio production.

Both of these conspiracy theories have been shown to be fabrications.

Haman’s Conspiracy Theory

As far back as 475BC the enemies of the Jews spread the story that the Jews were a threat to the Persian King Xerxes. Haman the Amalekite told the King,

There is a certain people…in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them (Esther 3:8).

Haman was motivated by hatred for God’s people and he wished to exterminate them. The plan backfired and Haman was hung.

The Black Plague

The Black Plague in the years 1346–1353 reduced world population from an estimated 450 million down to 350–375 million and peaked in Europe.

The plague was spread by rats and fleas transported on merchant ships to European port cities. Poor hygiene facilitated the spread of the disease. However, Jews, observing Old Testament laws, had better hygiene and were least affected. So the conspiracy theory was spread that Jews were responsible for the Black Plague claiming that they had released poisonous gases into the air and had poisoned wells!

Blood Libel

A middle-ages conspiracy theory, still spread by Islamists today, is called “Blood Libel”. The theory goes that at Passover time Jews kidnap and murder the children of Christians and use their blood to bake matzos. (Matzos is the unleavened bread eaten at Passover). Many Jews were tortured and killed after being charged with this crime.

The Blood Libel theory is absurd for Jews who observe the Passover would never eat anything with blood in it since it is expressly forbidden in the Law (Lev.17:14). Even in Acts15:20 the Jewish Apostles commanded Christians not to eat blood. Drinking the blood of sacrifices was a pagan practice and no Jew would eat animal blood let alone human blood.

Jewish Bankers

Wikipedia Encyclopedia states:

Various conspiracy theories have been advanced regarding Jews and banking, including the theory that world banking is dominated by the Rothschild family, that Jews control Wall Street, and that Jews control the U.S. Federal Reserve System. A related theory is that Jews control Hollywood or the news media. Most Holocaust denial claims imply, or openly state, that the Holocaust is a hoax arising out of a deliberate Jewish conspiracy to advance the interests of Jews at the expense of other peoples, and to justify the creation of the State of Israel.

Outlandish claims are made that Jewish Bankers financed Hitler’s war effort, supplied him with weapons during WWII, and that there is a sinister secret Jewish group called the Illuminati who have infiltrated all Governments on earth manipulating them to bring about a one world Government run by Jews. It is even claimed that the Illuminati is in control of the Government of Iran in spite of the fact that the Shiite Islamic country has vowed to wipe out every Jew!

The Protocols of Zion

The conspiracy theorists blame Jews for any political crisis. They claim that Jews organised WWI and WWII and describe the Russian Revolution (1917) as the “Jewish Bolshevik Revolution”!

In support of this theory a document called the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion is used in an effort to prove that the Jews have a sinister group of men who meet secretly every 100 years to determine a strategy to infiltrate all Governments and by fair means or foul, control them.

One account claims there are 70 such Jewish men and another claims the number is 300.

We are reminded of how false accusations were levelled against Christ and scripture records:

Many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together (Mark 14:56).

A great deal is written on the internet in an effort to support the claim that the Protocols of Zion are the minutes of meetings held by the sinister Illuminati and that they reveal the violent methods the Jews use to gain control of all the governments of the world.

Irrational statements and absurd claims have been made with the intention of preventing the Jews from regaining their own land as a national home.

One comment states that these Elders of Zion:

would like to do the bidding of their god-Satan and kill 80%+ of humanity.

Such extreme language can only come from a heart that is filled with hatred for God’s covenant people and is itself inspired by Satan.

Every witness in court is required to testify impassionately of observed facts and not to merely express emotions. We can therefore reject all such emotive anti-Semitic statements.

On the other hand the Jewish Virtual Library has calmly traced the history of the Protocols and factually answered the conspiracy theory.

The facts are:

1. A French Jesuit priest, Abbe Barruel, wrote a treatise in 1797, fabricating the story that the French evolution, which opposed the Catholic Church, was a conspiracy operating through members of the Masonic Lodge. This was a nonsense because many of the French nobility were Masons.
   In 1806 Barruel circulated a forged letter implicating Jews in the conspiracy about which he had written five years before. Napoleon, who brought law and order to France had favourably treated the Jews and passed laws in their favour.
2. In 1864, a French satirist wrote a dialogue entitled, “Dialogues in Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu” in which he makes no mention of Jews but his writings fell into the hands of a German anti-Semite, Hermann Goedsche. Goedsche, who wrote under the name of Sir John Retcliffe, converted the mythical tale into a series of novels in 1868 in which he speaks of a “secret centennial rabbinical conference” meeting at midnight to review the past century and plan the next.
3. This fictional writing was obtained by the Czar of Russia and during the Dreyfus Affair in France (1893-1895), when a Jewish artillery officer was falsely charged with divulging secrets to the Germans, Russian secret police in Paris, for political reasons, edited the fictional writing and called it, “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”. The Protocols were then printed in Russia by a mystic priest, Sergius Nilus in 1905.
4. During the civil war that raged in Russia after the Bolshhevik Revolution in 1917, the protocols were used extensively by the White Russians to pass the blame for the economic conditions onto the Jews and many were slaughtered as a result.
5. The forgery was exposed in 1921 in a series of articles in the London Times newspaper but today many still perpetuate the lie.
6. Henry Ford was responsible in the US for spreading the lie in 1927 and the Nazis under Hitler used it to justify the Jewish Holocaust during WWII.

The final conspiracy theory will be spread by Antichrist after the world is devastated in the first half of the Tribulation. More than half of world population will have perished, earthquakes and environmental catastrophes will abound, Russia will be burned, famine and disease will be everywhere and the Jews will be held responsible. Antichrist will have no problem convincing the world that the Jews should be exterminated!

Why Christians Must Reject Conspiratorial Theories

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion are manifestly a tool for anti-semitism and no Bible-believing Christian can be antisemitic. Anti-semitism is hatred for the only nation that God has chosen to be the conduit to the world for His Truth and blessing (Genesis 22:17-18).

God said of Israel:

If ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine (Exodus 19:5).

We know that Israel will yet obey the voice of the Lord and “so all Israel shall be saved” (Romans 11:26).

Even after the Babylonian captivity we read:

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye (Zechariah 2:8).

To seek to hinder the return of Jews to the land of Israel on the pretext that Jews are plotting to control the nations, flies in the face of many prophecies about Israel’s return to the land in the last days; first in unbelief (Ezekiel 36) and then, as a redeemed people when Christ returns after the Tribulation (Matthew 24:31; Ezekiel 39:28).

Satan knows that Israel, as a redeemed nation, will rule the world under the Kingship of Jesus Christ when He sits upon the throne of David at Jerusalem (Luke 1:32-33).

God has said,

The nation and kingdom that will not serve thee (Israel) shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted (Isaiah 60:12).

Zechariah prophesied:

In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you (Zechariah 8:23).

God has miraculously preserved the Jews through wars, programs, expulsions, inquisitions, the holocaust, and will yet preserve her when attacked by Russia and her Islamic allies. God’s faithfulness is seen in the survival of the Jews!

If Satan could destroy the Jewish people then many of God’s promises would fail and His entire plan for the future of this world would be frustrated; there could be no millennial kingdom of Christ or throne of David from which Christ could reign.

Every born-again child of God must therefore reject conspiratorial theories, uphold the promises of the Word of God, and stand with God’s plan for Israel.
